Studio in the heart of old Lisbon in Alfama, one of the most labyrinthine areas of the city. Surprise yourself with each of the narrow, winding alleyways, smells of life, smells and music, in one of the places where everyone gets lost Bring a comfortable pair of shoes and get lost going up and down the hills as you discover the historic quarters of Alfama, Baixa, Graça and Mouraria.
Surrounded by small restaurants, cafes and bars and open doors where ladies sell artisanal liquors It is a twenty square meters studio, located on the ground floor of a 5-storey building with no lift.
The studio consists of space with a double bed, sofa bed, compact kitchen and bathroom with shower. The kitchenette has an induction hob, fridge, washer-dryer and microwave. Wi-Fi is free via a fast 4g network
The building is 200 years old and was carefully rehabilitated in 2018 and 2019 in order to preserve the various archaeological records found and this rehabilitation was accompanied by the services of archaeology and anthropology of the Lisbon City Council.
The neighbourhood is made up of a maze of narrow streets, winding alleyways and steep flights of steps. Its kasbah-like layout is deliberate – this is the old Arab quarter of the city and although there are no Moorish houses yet, the narrow streets, small archways and stone terraces are full of atmosphere and plenty of fun to explore. Lisbon’s old quarter offers many things to do.
In addition to the castle, there are several historic 17th century churches nearby, as well as the city’s impressive cathedral. A multitude of excellent museums offer cultural fun, and Lisbon’s largest flea market is here. Some of the best views of Lisbon are from squares and viewpoints, such as Portas do Sol, Senhora da Graça A few minutes from the castle, and a few minutes from the wonderful maze that is the old Alfama and Mouraria, full of life, smells and music.
The only way to see the neighbourhood is to go in, get lost (you’ll like it or not) and be amazed by every curve of the narrow, winding cobbled alleyways. The neighbourhood is also home to traditional fado houses, where this unique Portuguese musical expression can be enjoyed in a rustic and romantic atmosphere.
